I want to ride my bicycle…

Hearing good news from the world of professional cycling is always some sort of a relief…

The Track Cycling World Championships, which were held at the Olympic Velodrome in London, have ended recently, and from a German perspective they could have been hardly any better. While host nation Team GB finished on top of the medal standings with an impressive five world titles, especially double world champion Joachim Eilers (1000m Time Trial and Keirin) and three time medalist Kristina Vogel (Gold: Keirin, Bronze: Sprint and Team Sprint) stood out for the Germans, crowning an overall strong team performance. As one of only three NOCs worldwide, and the only European one, Germany secured all 14 available quota places for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Something to look forward to, absolutely.

Speaking of cycling: the weather looks really fine tonight, and as I finally managed to repair my bike, there are no excuses any more. Time to get some kilometres on the clock…
